Une vaste sélection de matériels portant sur l’équité et l’inclusion dans le milieu de l’audiovisuel ici et dans le monde.

From talent and skills shortages, to the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) and immersive technology, a lack of diversity in the workforce, the difficulties in bringing new products to market, and the coronavirus crisis, there has never been a more pressing need for support in the screen industries. SIGN will meet these challenges through a comprehensive, three-year programme of activity. Diversity and inclusion will be prioritised across all the work undertaken. Our team of experts will research the issues, and find innovative ways to combat them.

Diversity wins is the third report in a McKinsey series investigating the business case for diversity, following Why diversity matters (2015) and Delivering through diversity (2018). Our latest report shows not only that the business case remains robust but also that the relationship between diversity on executive teams and the likelihood of financial outperformance has strengthened over time. These findings emerge from our largest data set so far, encompassing 15 countries and more than 1,000 large companies. By incorporating a “social listening” analysis of employee sentiment in online reviews, the report also provides new insights into how inclusion matters. It shows that companies should pay much greater attention to inclusion, even when they are relatively diverse.

The past few years have ushered in a “Black renaissance” on American television, with Black artists starring in and creating more shows than ever before. In Canada, though, it might as well still be 1998, when there were so few Black characters on TV that I, a Black girl growing up in a predominantly white suburb, would cling to any Black character — always in a supporting role, never the star — who wasn’t a one-note stereotype.

We support the development of nuanced and contemporary stories that shift stereotypical and harmful narratives within and about Africa. Through research, grant-making and advocacy we aim to build the field of narrative change-makers by supporting storytellers, investing in media platforms and driving disruption campaigns.

How do you fight racism in a world where race is imaginary? What does it mean to be truly diverse, or multicultural? Find out in this month’s episode of Between, Across, and Through. Canada tends to compare itself to the United States in a positive light when it comes to dealing with citizenship and migration. Canada’s entire cultural policy revolves around the idea of multiculturalism… but what does that really mean?

Études et rapports

In an increasingly data-driven, automated world, the question of how to protect individuals’ civil liberties in the face of artificial intelligence looms larger by the day. Coded Bias follows M.I.T. Media Lab computer scientist Joy Buolamwini, along with data scientists, mathematicians, and watchdog groups from all over the world, as they fight to expose the discrimination within algorithms now prevalent across all spheres of daily life.
